  • Heritage Cycle Hire
    Heritage Cycle Hire is based at the Rhondda Heritage Park museum in Trehafod and offers adult and children mountain bikes, helmets etc. for hire at reasonable prices. From Trehafod you can explore the Celtic Trail to Pontypridd and the Taff Trail, or go North and join the trail to Maerdy and discover more of the beauty in our local environment. There are trails suitable for all ages, all abilities, for the experienced and the novice. Hire is ONLY available for families and groups.   • Family Cycle Rides
    FREE for all the family Thursday's @ 6pm, from 7th August to 4th September 2008. Starting from the Rhondda Heritage Park Museum, Trehafod Bikes & helmets provided for ages 10 upwards, with child carriers also available. Please ring to book your place

  • Summer Drop-in Fundays
    Make pizza, play the Wii and PS2, Arts & Crafts, face painting and much more. All Welcome. St Johns Church Hall, Cymmer 12th, 13th & 14th August - 27th & 28th August, Trehafod Community Village Hall (Behind McCalls) 18th, 19th, 20th & 21st August. All Sessions - Aged under 11's 12 noon to 2pm - Aged over 11's 3pm to 5pm

  • Cardiff City Soccer Skills
    Come along to learn new skills and have a great day out at Ysgol Gyfyn Cymraeg (Cymmer Welsh Comprehensive) Sports Hall and playing field. For ages 8 and over on Thursday 14th August 2008. Please ring the office to book a space.

  • Dragon Savers
    Every Monday between 9:30am and 10:30am Dragon Savers Credit Union is open at Cymmer ward Community First office, 70 High St, Cymmer. Its local convenient, easy to use and open to anyone.

    With a credit union you can:

    Save easily – adult members pay just £1 membership to join and at least £1 to open an account, then its up to you. Junior accounts have no membership fee or minimum savings amount

    Budget simply – save for everyday expenses, Christmas, birthdays, holidays or just a rainy day

  • Healthy Living Group
    Want to try something new? Meet New People? Enjoy an hour out of the house? If so then the new Cymmer Healthy Living group is for you. The group will be starting in September where we will be spending one morning a week doing a range of different things, including trying new ways of keeping healthy, cooking, sharing ideas & tips and socialising.   • PACT Meetings
    The next Cymmer Ward Police and Communities Together (PACT) meeting will be on Thursday 4th September 2008, 6:30pm at the Pioneer Supermarket, Porth. The purpose of theses meetings is to create an environment where the Police, Public and other agencies come together to address issues in your community. Your assistance and enthusiasm is needed. The Cymmer ward PACT meeting's are held the first Thursday of every month, same time, same location

  • Aerobic Sessions
    New aerobic class at St Johns Church Hall, Cymmer. Every Wednesday 6:30pm to 7:30pm. Cost £1.50 per session, open to anyone aged 16+.

  • Dai Davies Art Club
    The ever popular Dai Davies Art Club has restarted in partnership with Cymmer Ward Communities First. If your a beginner or a Picasso then go along and enjoy an afternoon of painting and drawing. The group meets every Friday at the Dai Davies Community Centre, Cymmer from 1:30pm until 3:30pm. No previous experience is required and refreshments and some limited equipment are available free of charge.

  • Walking Your Way To Health in Cymmer
    The walking to health scheme is being run to encourage people to start taking some regular exercise as part of a group with the support of a walk leader. The scheme is not just about exercise and its associated benefits but also a chance to meet new people and enjoy the beautiful environment in which we live.

    Cymmer Ward Communities First run the walking scheme, with the help from volunteers, every Friday, 10:30am from outside the Rhondda Heritage Park museum, Trehafod. We walk in rain or shine so please feel free to join in these very friendly and easy going walks.

    We continually need volunteer walk leaders. After attending a one day volunteer walk leader training session, you will receive full support and a certificate of accreditation. If you think you can help then please contact Louise McGovern on 01443 682945 for more details. If you don't think your ready to be a volunteer walk leader but would like to know more about the project then please feel free to give us a ring on the above number.

  • Free Energy Saving Light Bulbs
    To collect your free energy saving light bulbs if you live within Trebanog please call into Trebanog Tenants & Residents Association, 1-2 Pen Y Dre, Rhiwgarn, Trebanog or ring them on 01443 687163. If you live within the rest of the Cymmer ward (including Glynfach, Britannia & Trehafod) then please call into the Cymmer ward Communities First office at 70 High St, Cymmer or ring us on 01443 682945.

    For a person to receive 2 free energy saving light bulbs proof of receiving benefit must be provided. Benefits can include, old age pension, working tax credit, incapacity, etc. Energy saving light bulbs are limited to 2 per person.
